Ink Cartridge Tips
Some refilled ink cartridges still show "low ink" on both the computer screen and the printer screen (panel) after installed back to the printer as printer manufacturers want to discourage people from using refilled ink cartridges. You can just ignore it and continue to print.
Never continue to print after cartridge runs out of ink . The Inkjet printhead will burn without ink coming out when printing which making it unusable. Replace and refill the cartridge ASAP when you see the "empty" warning or it does not give good prints.
Store spare ink cartridge in cool and shady place. Keep cartridge in a sealed plastic bag (like a ziplock sandwich bag) to prevent it from drying up.
The color of the first few pages printing from a refilled color ink cartridge may be distorted as color cross contamination may ocurred when the cartridge ran out of ink. After printing a few pages clearing the residue ink before refilling, the colors should be normal again.
Try printing at least once with all colours every week or other week so as to keep the printhead fresh with ink flowing.
Once refilled ink cartridges are installed in the printer, the ink inside may be evaporated. Ink cartridges are expected to be dried out in 3 to 6 months without use.
do not place your printer under direct sunlight or close to heat vent as your cartridge will dry out a lot faster.
Toner Cartridge Tips
Do not hit or bang the cartridge which would cause toner powder splitting out and damage the cartridge
Never attempt to open up the cartridge.
Excessive light exposure and hotness will damage cartridge due to its sensitivity to light and heat.
Store empty cartridge in its original packaging (plastic bag and cardboard box).
Page yield from the cartridge depends on the print coverage, font size, bold letters and pictures (OEM page yield is based on a 5% coverage).
Reset instruction for Canon cartridges PG210, CL-211,PG-240,CL241,PG-243, CL-244,PG-245, CL-246, PG260 & CL261
After installing your refilled cartridge, you may still see "Ink is Low" on the screen and/or the printer panel because your printer has a memory that the cartridge is used and empty. Your printer may be able to print with low ink reminder but it won't be able to print for too long. If your multi-function printer is not printing with the refilled cartridge(s) installed in the printer ("1" and "3" will be flashing alternatively on the printer panel), you need to press and hold the button "Stop/Reset" or "Stop" on the printer panel until you hear the printer is moving. This will reset the printer for one cartridge. You need to do this again later for another refilled cartridge. After resetting, the cartridge(s) can print move than new ones. As for single purpose printer, if the printer does not print after installing the refilled cartridges and there is an orange light flashing continuously below the On/Off button. You need to press and hold the button with the orange light flashing until the green light (On/Off) start to flash. After resetting, the printer should start to print unless the other refilled cartridge has to be reset too. For resetting the other cartridge, please follow the instruction as mentioned above."
